Pradeep Sarkar, who is known for his critically and commercially successful films like Parineeta and Mardaani, is all set to helm his next film. What makes the news even more exciting is the fact that the acclaimed filmmaker has joined forces with Kajol for his next directorial.
The untitled film will be an adaptation of the Gujarati play Beta Kaagdo by Anand Gandhi, who has previously directed Ship of Theseus. The story of the movie will revolve around a single mother and her son. Kajol will play the mother in the movie.
Sarkar reportedly said, "I was offered the script around four months ago. It took me a while to understand the Gujarati tone but eventually, I fell in love with this extremely emotional story which boasts of some really strong characters and there's a chance of people getting really close to them."
When Sarkar was asked about working with Kajol, he said, "She's an awesome actress who picks up a role and owns it. She has her own style, charm and a particular way of talking that enhances the character."
Reportedly, the film will be co-produced by Ajay Devgn along with Abhinav Shukla and will mount floors in January next year.
