Divinaa Thackur on her new web series Who’s You Daddy, her role in Baahubali: Before the Beginning & more

Divinaa Thackur made her big-screen debut with the film Veeram in which she was paired opposite Kunal Kapoor. She was also a part of Sanjay Dutt starrer Prassthanam. Well, apart from the big screen, Divinaa has also made a mark in the digital world with web series and short films.

Her recent web outing is Alt Balaji’s Who's Your Daddy? in which she plays one of the leads. We recently interacted with Divinaa and while talking about her character in the web series, the actress told us, “I play a character named Mehek.  She comes from Delhi an area called Lajpat Nagar. She is smart and knows her way out of any situation faced. She is cute, naughty, and funny and also knows her Indian roots well. She is a typical girl who loves to wear a lot of jewelry, different colour nail paints, bangles and she loves to dress up. Mehek is someone who brings the spark and smile whenever she comes on screen.”

When it comes to web series there’s always a debate that the content being shown is vulgar and makers try to sell their web series through love-making scenes, and of course, it is said that sex sells. When we asked Divinaa what’s her take on it, she said, “If the content is strong it wouldn't need to incorporate sex scenes forcefully. On the web, people take liberty because there is no censor yet. So I feel it's fair enough if someone wants to use it as an important part of their screenplay. It's a creative choice one is free to take. Also, passion is a strong defilement we all possess and can also be portrayed as a dominating trait in any of the characters on the screen if the script demands. Basically, I wouldn't judge any platform or a filmmaker is showcasing vulgar or sex-driven content, it's an individual creative choice.”

Divinaa will next be seen in Netflix’s series Baahubali: Before the Beginning. When asked her about her role in it, she told us, “I play a very different role in Baahubali, something which I never got an attempt to try.  The credit goes to my director Deva Katta for believing in me for having a wide range as an actor. This character is very glamorous and beautiful someone like Chandramukhi, Madhuri Dixit’s ma'am character in Devdas.”

Being a newcomer in the industry, Divinaa has her list of directors and actors she would like to work with. She said, “As a newcomer, I would love to work with everyone who is established in the industry as I will get to learn more and explore more. But if being asked about a list per se I would love to work with directors Zoya Akthar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Actors, the list a little long, Ranveer Singh, Rajkummar Rao, Vijay Devrakonda and Vicky Kaushal.
