The audience has been waiting to see Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth's much-talked-about film 2.0 for a long time now, but it seems their wait is going to get a little longer as the makers of the sci-fi film have officially released a statement confirming that the movie will now arrive in theatres in April 2018.
2.0, which is a sequel to the Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer 2010 film Robot, was originally slated to hit screens this year on Diwali and clash with Secret Superstar and Golmaal Again. However, months before Diwali, it was pushed to December 2017. It was once again moved a month further to the Republic Day weekend in January as some crucial post-production work was yet to finish. After being postponed thrice, the film is ready for its theatrical bow in April 2018.
Though the makers have yet not unveiled the final release date of the movie, noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the exact release date. He wrote: “#2Point0 to release on 27 April 2018... Stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar... Directed by Shankar. (sic)”
If 2.0 is really releasing on 27th April, then it will face a massive clash with two big Telugu films, Mahesh Babu's Bharat Ane Nenu, and Allu Arjun's Naa Peru Surya. Not just Telugu films, two Hindi films Baaghi 2 and Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi are also scheduled to enter cinemas on 27th April 2018.
It will be really interesting to see which film pushes its release date to avoid competition with other biggies.
