According to reports, Jackky Bhagnani has been roped in for the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster film Pelli Choopulu which walked away with two National Film Awards for Best Telugu Film and Best Screenplay-Dialogue.
The film will be directed by Nitin Kakkar who has previously helmed the critically acclaimed comedy film, Filmistaan. He returns to direction after a gap of three years.
The Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma starrer Pelli Choopulu had done a phenomenal business at the box office upon its release last year. It did not only impress the audience, but critics also praised the film unanimously.
The Hindi remake, which is yet to be untitled, will be bankrolled by Phantom Films. Besides Jackky Bhagnani, it will also feature Prateik Babbar and popular Gujarati actor, Pratik Gandhi. Kritika Kamra of TV shows like Kitani Mohabbat Hai, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and Chandrakanta will make her Bollywood debut with the film.
Madhu Mantena from Phantom Films says, “We have been trying to work with Nitin for a long time and when he came with this script, we knew we had to make it. He has beautifully adapted the original for a wider audience. It’s a fresh, relevant story for youngsters.”
"I've made some changes in the original script so that the Hindi film audience can connect with it," Kakkar said in a statement.
The film will mount floors soon.
