Tindy & Rixx: Yaari is a tribute to our youth

by ASJAD NAZIR.

WITH their newly released single Yaari, dynamic duo Tindy & Rixx have delivered a summer anthem that revolves around friendship and having a great time.

The catchy dance number featuring the vocals of acclaimed Punjabi singer Daljit Mattu incorporates diverse commercial influences. Eastern Eye caught up with the west London lads to find out more...

You both do good songs, but why don’t you release more music?

Thank you so much for your kind words! Yaari will be our third release in five years. The main reason we don’t release more music is we are very critical of our own work and spend a lot of time and effort trying to make sure we are happy with the finished product.

Also being so busy on the wedding/DJ circuit makes it is impossible to release music and maintain a certain level of quality!

Tell us about your latest single...

We started Yaari three years ago! We wanted to create something relatable to us and showcase our taste of music. The track is about remembering the good times and reminiscing. The music has a very urban/hip hop edge, which is very much what we where into growing up. The single is a tribute to our youth, from the lyrics to the sounds!

What do you most like about Daljit Mattu as a singer?

Daljit bhaji is a great vocalist with massive natural talent. His voice is very unique. Whenever you hear a song he has sung, you can instantly recognise his voice.

Are you both happiest producing dance numbers?

Not necessarily! Every track we have released up to now is different in its own way. Our debut Tera Hogeya was very much a commercial ‘pop’ bhangra track. Tu Rendhe was a desi duet, but showcased our urban influences with a reggae/dub undertone.

Yaari is a high-energy bhangra track with a huge hip-hop influence. We create music dependent on our mood, but being DJs it seems we have been full of energy each time.

Who are you hoping connects with the new song?

Lyrically and musically it is very much a UK sound. We are hoping anybody growing up in the UK will be able to feel a sense of nostalgia with the lyrics and sound of this track. The track is about bringing everyone together to celebrate life!

What can we expect from you next?

We have been very active on the wedding/DJ circuit and will continue to be busy with God’s grace! We still have a few singles up our sleeve, but until the next release there will be regular activity on our social media handles.

Who would you love to collaborate with?

There are a number of singers who are absolutely brilliant in their craft. We are big fans of

G Sidhu, Rajvir Jawanda and Ranjit Bawa to name a few.
