Buzz has it that actress Deepika Padukone, who was last seen in period film Padmaavat (2018), is in talks with the makers of an upcoming Hindi film, which will be a remake of iconic actress Sridevi’s four-decade-old movie.
Though the details are scarce on the project, a source close to the development reveals that talks have just been mooted and Deepika is in the know.
"The original Sridevi film was made by a producer from the South and helmed by a Bollywood director. However, talks are on to procure the rights and remake it with Deepika. Nobody is willing to comment on the subject because talks have just been mooted and there are a lot of modalities involved. However, it is true that Deepika is in the know," says the source.
Deepika has not signed any Hindi project after Padmaavat, except an untitled movie with director Vishal Bhardwaj, which was supposed to kick-off in March. However, the project will take some time to roll as actor Irrfan Khan, who plays the male lead in it, is fighting with cancer.
The actress is also rumoured to be doing a superwoman film. However, that project hasn’t been confirmed either.
We hope Deepika announces her next project soon.
