Jaaved Jaaferi joins the cast of Dharma Productions’ Takht

Dharma Productions’ Takht, which was announced in 2018, is one of the hugely anticipated Bollywood movies. Featuring an ensemble cast which includes Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar in principal characters, the period drama is set to be mount on a lavish scale.

The latest update on Takht is that yet another talented actor has joined the star cast of the film. We are talking about Jaaved Jaaferi who is the latest actor to come onboard the ensemble cast of the historical drama.

Confirming the development, Jaaferi tells a newswire that he will play the head priest of Shah Jahan’s court in the film. “I am playing the head priest of Shah Jahan’s court. I am the Qazi who is in charge of all the religious affairs. It is a very strong part,” he says.

Apart from Takht, Jaaved Jaaferi is also part of Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and Varun Dhawan’s Coolie No. 1. Both films were scheduled to hit theatres on 24th March and 1st May respectively. However, Sooryavanshi had to miss its release date due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As far as Coolie No. 1 is concerned, the makers of the comic-caper are yet to take the final call regarding the release of the film on 1st May.

Takht was also scheduled to begin its first shooting schedule in the second quarter of the year. But as things stand today, every planning has gone for a toss in the wake of the deadly COVID-19 and a 21-day lockdown across the country.

Takht marks filmmaker Karan Johar’s return to direction after the 2016 hit Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
