Vidya to debut in Telugu films with a biopic on NTR

National Award-winning actress Vidya Balan, who scorched the silver screen with her stirring portrayal of Silk Smita in Ekta Kapoor's The Dirty Picture, is set to make her presence felt in the Telugu film industry with the forthcoming biopic on late actor and former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR).

If latest reports are to be believed, Vidya has been cast to essay the character Basavatarakam in the biopic, which will be helmed by Teja. Basavatarakam was the first wife of NTR. NTR's son Balakrishna will play his father in the movie.

The work on the project has already begun and the project will be formally launched on 29th March in Hyderabad.

"The team has constructed a huge set to shoot a crucial scene featuring Balakrishna for two days immediately after the launch. The launch event is likely to be graced by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers K Chandrasekhara Rao and Nara Chandrababu Naidu," reveals a source.

After Tumhari Sulu, Vidya Balan has not signed any Hindi project. Looks like she has decided to immerse herself completely in the NTR biopic.
