Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat is one of the most awaited films of the year. The movie stars Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles. And now, veteran actress Zeenat Aman has joined the cast of the film.

The actress will be seen as Sakina Begum who led the province of Hoshiyarganj and lived within the confines of her kingdom, away from the politics of the region. Sakina Begum had a very important role to play in the battle of Panipat as the Peshwas asked help from her. Zeenat Aman’s role in the film will be a guest appearance.

Talking about getting Zeenat Aman on board for the film, Ashutosh Gowariker said, “It is an absolute honour and a fan moment to be directing Zeenatji. There are many many of her films that I have loved and especially her work in them. What is most fascinating about her is her humility despite all the stardom. I am excited to reveal her look in the film now but can’t.”

Well, not many would know that Ashutosh had worked with the veteran actress as an actor in Anant Balani’s 1989 release Gawaahi. Zeenat Aman will start shooting for the film by the end of this week.

The movie is based on the Third Battle of Panipat which took place on 14 January 1761 at Panipat. It’s a very important event from the history of India and we simply can’t wait to experience it on the big screen.

Arjun Kapoor will be seen playing the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Kriti Sanon will be seen as Parvati Bai, Sanjay Dutt plays the role of Ahmad Shah Abdali and Padmini Kolhapure portrays the character of Gopika Bai. Panipat clearly has a very interesting star cast and we have high expectations from the film. Gowariker is known for his period films like Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar. The former was also India’s official entry at Oscars and was nominated in the Best Foreign Film category.

Panipat will be hitting the screens on 6th December 2019.
