My playlist - Romaan

TALENTED newcomer Romaan recently introduced himself to the music industry with his dynamic debut track Frozen Heart.

The 19-year-old British-Pakistani from Manchester started writing lyrics at the age of 13 and later went on to develop his passion for rap. Romaan has grown up being inspired by eclectic musical influences and did a countdown of 10 songs he loves.

10. Bodmon by Ramriddlez: I usually listen to songs that inspire and give me ideas for my music. This song makes the list because it introduced a different wave of music to me. Ramriddlez is a Canadian artist who helped inspire my style, with a type of dancehall, ethnic sounding song (he’s Egyptian) that has a chilled vibe to it.

9. Free Spirit by Drake: Drake is one of my biggest inspirations. This song is on a different wave; hard-hitting soulful trap that gets me going.

8. Boss by Trey Songz: This is my type of song. Full volume, whenever I’m in the city! Songz has made so many of my favourite songs, so it was hard to choose just one.

7. Fever by Wizkid: I think Wizkid always makes the song, whether it’s a feature or his own single. This song has a vibe on a whole other level. A jazzy Afro-beat type of holiday wave, I can’t really explain.

6. Low by Wizkid: A song that no matter how many times you play it, you can never grow bored. It has replay value. Not many songs have that. The chorus always randomly enters my mind and it’s catchy.

5. Zemer by Soolking: A French/Albanian song. I rate European music highly and that is why Zemer is one of my favourite songs. The instruments in the backing track create an ethnic sound, along with the vocals. Another inspiration that makes me experiment with different types of genres.

4. In The Morning by J Cole Ft. Drake: I had to have a J Cole track in my top 10. I love chilled music and this is the best example.

3. King Of The Fall by The Weeknd: One of the greatest songs by The Weeknd. This is one of the songs that inspired me to record and actually turned me into a massive fan of The Weeknd. That is when I listened to (his album) Trilogy. It makes you feel like a boss every time you listen to it.

2. Felices Los 4 by Maluma: I listen to a lot of reggaeton. This song makes me feel like I’m on a holiday, even if I’m sitting in my car driving in Manchester. The video is crazy and Maluma is my favourite artist in Latin music. A massive inspiration, this song led me to all sorts of other music and I know every lyric even though I have no idea how to speak Spanish.

1. Relax With Me by PARTYNEXTDOOR: This is my number one song. However, I have lots of favourite songs, I could never pick one. PARTYNEXTDOOR is one of the best writers in the industry. This song puts you in the mood to chill, see your girl or is even perfect for a drive. It’s just a wavy track.
