Director Rajkumar Santoshi's upcoming period drama film 'Gandhi Godse -Ek Yudh' has triggered a fresh controversy as Congress recently sought a ban on the film in Madhya Pradesh.
Amid the ongoing row, Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson, Tushar Gandhi expressed his views about the film. "I'm not surprised because for them Godse is a hero, and if they portray him as a hero, it should not surprise any of us. But I cannot comment on the merits or the demerits of the film because I haven't seen it and I don't intend to see films which glorify murderers," Tushar Gandhi told the media.
Set in early post-independence India of 1947-48, the film depicts the war of ideologies between Nathuram Godse and Mahatma Gandhi. The trailer showcased a powerful glimpse into the tumultuous period following India's partition.
"It is a very well thought out game plan and all these characters have been given the role to perform and they performed the role according to their queues and their timelines. The same director portrayed Baapu in a very wrong manner in his film Bhagat Singh, so it's not surprising that he would make a film glorifying Godse," Gandhi added.
Helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film stars Chinmay Mandlekar and Deepak Antani in the lead roles.
'Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh' is set in an India of the filmmaker's imagination where Mahatma Gandhi survives an assassination bid and meets his attacker, Nathuram Godse, in prison. What follows is a fiery debate and a clash of ideologies between them.
With music composed by maestro AR Rahman, the film, produced by Manila Santoshi, is all set to hit the theatres on Republic Day, January 26.
Jeethu Joseph confirmed Drishyam 3 will have the same plot in Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu.
Shooting begins in October 2025; the script is nearly complete.
Ajay Devgn, Mohanlal, and Venkatesh will reprise their roles in their respective versions.
Makers are discussing a simultaneous theatrical release across all languages.
The suspense thriller Drishyam 3 will tell the same story in all its language versions, director Jeethu Joseph has confirmed. Quashing speculation about the Hindi adaptation having a different plot, Joseph said the film’s core narrative will be consistent across Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu, with only regional adjustments.
Jeethu Joseph clears the air on script changes for the Hindi version
Jeethu Joseph clarified that the ongoing rumours about divergent plots for each version were inaccurate. “The Hindi film will also be based on my story. Once I complete the script, it will be handed over to their team, who will adapt it culturally, but the story remains the same,” he said.
While the Malayalam version continues with Mohanlal as Georgekutty, the Hindi and Telugu versions will see Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh return to their respective lead roles. The script is nearing completion, and pre-production is expected to pick up speed in the coming months, with cameras set to roll in October 2025.
The director also addressed growing curiosity about whether the films would release together. “There’s been a request for a simultaneous release,” Joseph revealed, adding that the team is seriously considering it due to how OTT culture impacts multilingual viewership.
Although it’s uncertain whether all three versions will be shot at the same time due to scheduling constraints of the lead actors, the idea of releasing the film on the same date across languages is gaining momentum.

The Drishyam franchise, which began in 2013, follows a man protecting his family after an accidental death. The second film, released directly on OTT in 2021, escalated the tension with a new witness. The plot for the third film is still under wraps, but excitement is mounting across fanbases in all three languages.

Liver King calls out Joe Rogan in a bizarre social media video
Proposes a £790,000 fight, with proceeds going to charity
Claims it’s about principle after Rogan’s past criticism

Liver King resurfaces with challenge for Joe Rogan
Brian Johnson, known online as the Liver King, has reappeared in the spotlight following the Netflix documentary Untold: The Liver King. After months of silence following his steroid use controversy, Johnson has posted a series of videos, culminating in a direct challenge to podcast host Joe Rogan.
In the video, he dons a wolf-head hat and holds what appear to be gold-plated guns, saying: “Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out… I have zero training in jiu-jitsu, you’re a black belt. You should dismantle me—but I’m picking a fight with you.”
Johnson says the proposed match is not about winning, but about standing by a principle. He accused Rogan of attacking his character and said: “You can’t pick a fight with a real king and then expect there to not be an actual fight.”
He suggested a $1 million fight with the prize money to be donated to a charity that is “good and true”.
Rogan’s 2022 criticism
The Liver King’s comments appear to be in response to a December 2022 podcast episode, where Rogan mocked him: “Yeah, I’m on testosterone, unlike the Liver King. I’ll tell you the truth,” he said while speaking to guest Derek Munro.
Rogan has not yet responded publicly to Johnson’s challenge.

Orlando Bloom set to party solo at Bezos wedding as Katy Perry skips amid split buzz
Orlando Bloom attends Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s Venice wedding without Katy Perry.
The actor is reportedly ready to party solo at the star-studded celebration.
Perry continues her 143 world tour and won’t be at the wedding.
Tensions between the couple reportedly began over Perry’s space mission.
Orlando Bloom is attending one of the most high-profile weddings of the year, but solo. The actor is in Venice for the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, while his long-time partner Katy Perry remains on tour. The move has added to the ongoing speculation that the couple’s relationship may be on the rocks.
The guest list for the multi-day celebration includes some of the biggest names in Hollywood, and Bloom is reportedly ready to enjoy it without holding back. Meanwhile, Perry, who was also invited, is staying on the road with her 143 world tour, which runs until December.

Bloom’s solo outing adds fuel to breakup rumours
The couple, who first got together in 2016 and share a daughter, Daisy Dove, have not commented publicly on the status of their relationship. However, sources close to the pair suggest tensions have been brewing for some time.
One major point of friction appears to have been Perry’s trip on a Blue Origin space flight, something Bloom reportedly found unnecessary and “embarrassing.” That sentiment reportedly hurt Perry, who had already been facing public pressure due to indifferent reactions to her latest music and tour.

Katy Perry reportedly upset over Bloom attending wedding without her
Although the couple shares a social connection with Bezos and Sánchez, insiders say Perry feels more closely tied to the pair and wasn’t thrilled about Bloom attending without her. Some close to the situation believe his decision to go, despite not being particularly close to the couple, felt like a personal slight.

While Bloom is stepping into the Venice spotlight alone, Perry is staying focused on her career. Whether the couple is taking time apart or headed toward an official split remains to be seen. But their absence from each other’s side at a major social event isn’t going unnoticed.

These films don’t just tell queer stories, they shaped queer cinema. And now you can stream them all.
There’s something sacred about watching a queer story unfold on screen. Whether it’s the ache of a forbidden romance, the electric joy of self-discovery, or the quiet triumph of simply existing. These films? They hit you in the gut. They crack you open. They make you feel seen, or furious, or both. They’re not just "important." They’re alive.
This Pride Month, some of the most iconic queer films: new, old, radical, and tender, have made their way to streaming platforms. Whether you’ve loved them for years or are discovering them for the first time, each of these ten titles deserves your attention, your emotions, and your popcorn.
Here’s your Pride Month watchlist: 10 iconic queer films that are now just a click away.
But I’m a Cheerleader (1999)
We’re starting with camp. Literal camp. Natasha Lyonne plays a cheerleader sent to conversion therapy, where she discovers she’s, in fact, a lesbian and also fabulous. This movie is pink, plastic, and punches homophobia right in the teeth. For a whole generation, this was the first time cinema told them: it’s okay to be queer, weird, loud, and proud. And now it’s back on streaming in time for Pride.
You know the line: “I wish I knew how to quit you.” This wasn't just a 'gay cowboy movie'. It’s about love that exists in the margins, buried under silence and shame. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal made the world weep with a love story that dared to exist, even when it couldn’t survive. Ang Lee turned a whisper into a cultural roar. And though we’ve come a long way since 2005, this film still guts you, in the best way.
London gays and lesbians decide to help Welsh miners during the strikes? Sounds nuts. This is about what happens when two very different communities discover they’re fighting the same fight. It’s funny, heartfelt, political, and will leave you misty-eyed. Based on a true story, and a perfect film to watch with chosen family.
Carol is all hush and yearning. Therese spots Carol across a department store. 1950s New York, all smoky glances and forbidden desire. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara turn restraint into rapture in this 1950s-set lesbian romance. Called the greatest LGBTQ+ film ever for a damn good reason. Pure, bottled longing.
Shot entirely on iPhones, Tangerine tore up the rulebook. Starring actual trans women. Set on the gritty, sun-baked streets of LA on Christmas Eve. A whirlwind journey of betrayal, sisterhood, and survival. Kitana Kiki Rodriguez and Mya Taylor made history just by being exactly who they are: real, brilliant, and unfiltered. Queer cinema didn’t know it needed Tangerine, until it did.
Park Chan-wook doing a lesbian erotic thriller? Yes! Based on Sarah Waters’ novel Fingersmith, it moves the story to Japanese-occupied Korea, where two women unravel each other, and a deliciously layered con. No male gaze here. Just gaze. If you think you’ve seen everything lesbian cinema has to offer, this film is here to prove you wrong. Won the Queer Palm for a reason!
Barry Jenkins created a masterpiece that changed everything. Yeah, it won Best Picture. Big deal. Forget the trophy. Remember Chiron? That quiet kid, then that scared teen, then that man built like a fortress? Told in three acts, Moonlight follows Chiron growing into a man as he searches for love, identity, and home. A Black, queer story told with tenderness that’ll wreck you. Essential viewing? Absolutely. Human viewing? Even more so.
A sun-drenched Italian summer. Peaches. Heartbreak. Timothée Chalamet’s Elio falling headfirst into first love with Armie Hammer’s Oliver, is messy, gorgeous, and all-consuming. And that final shot? Elio staring into the fire with tears in his eyes? It’s one of the most devastating, honest portrayals of young heartbreak ever filmed. Luca Guadagnino made something unforgettable.
This isn’t a film you watch. It’s a film you feel. Every glance. Every breath. Every brushstroke. Céline Sciamma’s story of two women: an artist and her subject, on a remote French island in the 18th century, feels like it exists outside time. There’s no male gaze here. It’s about art, memory, and how women loved when the world wasn’t watching. Won Best Screenplay at Cannes because every frame says something. Haunting. Beautiful. Necessary.
You wouldn’t think a wild, absurdist sci-fi action movie about multiverse chaos would be one of the most heartfelt queer films in recent years. But here we are. Stephanie Hsu’s character, Joy, and her storyline with her mother capture the push-pull of queer identity, generational trauma, and longing to be understood. It won seven Oscars, including Best Picture, but its biggest win was making queer Asian identity feel epic, emotional, and cosmic.
Not because it’s definitive. But because it’s a start.
Pride isn’t just about rainbow flags and parades. It’s about stories. It’s about seeing yourself, your heartbreaks, your joy, your struggle, your resilience on screen. These ten films are wildly different, but they all share one thing: they dared to tell the truth about queer lives.
So watch them. Feel them. Cry, laugh, scream, pause and stare. Because this month, and every month, we deserve to see ourselves in every genre, every century, every universe.
