Housefull 4 makers happy with the final draft

Housefull 4, the fourth instalment of the super successful comedy film franchise Housefull, is one of the most awaited films of 2019. Ever since the project was announced last year, there has been unmitigated buzz around it. The latest we hear that the writing team wrapped up the final draft of the screenplay recently which producer Sajid Nadiadwala has liked a lot.

“The final screenplay of Housefull 4 was locked recently and is a total laugh riot. We know that Housefull 3 didn’t live onto the expectations, but this part is not just bigger but a lot better than the other films from the franchise. The humour is situational and not physical i.e. the misery of the characters in the situation would make everyone laugh. Akshay Kumar will be seen romancing both Pooja Hegde and Kriti Sanon,” reveals a source.

Starring Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Ritesh Deshmukh, Pooja Hegde, Kriti Sanon, Boman Irani and Chunky Pandey in important roles, Housefull 4 will be helmed by Sajid Khan who also directed the first two instalments of the series.

The film is expected to start rolling in June. It is slated to hit screens on Diwali next year.

Yash says Ravana in Ramayana must connect with Western viewers as film eyes global audience

Highlights

  • Yash says he humanised Ravana to help global audiences relate to the character.
  • Asura designs in the first glimpse drew criticism for looking too Western-inspired.
  • Producer Namit Malhotra compares the film's tone to Lord of the Rings and Gladiator.
Yash, who plays the demon king Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, says his portrayal was shaped by one clear goal: making the character relatable beyond Indian audiences.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, where the film was presented alongside major Hollywood releases, the actor said he worked to strip away the purely mythological reading of the role.

"I have tried to internalise the whole essence of Ravana and tried to make him as human as possible at times," Yash told Reuters.

"It is important for people to relate to him, and since we have global ambitions, we need to make it familiar to a Western audience as well."
