First look of Priyadarshan’s comic-caper Hungama 2 out

Hindi film enthusiasts were on cloud nine when celebrated filmmaker Priyadarshan announced his return to Bollywood after a huge gap of seven years. Known for calling the shots for such successful comic-capers as Hera Pheri (2000), Hungama (2003), Hulchul (2004) and Garam Masala (2005), Priyadarshan’s last directorial in Bollywood was Rangrezz (2013) which did not work at the box-office.

The hit filmmaker is making a comeback to Hindi cinema with a sequel to his 2003 film Hungama. While the original film starred Akshaye Khanna, Rimi Sen, Aftab Shivdasani and Paresh Rawal in important roles, the sequel features newcomers Meezaan Jaffery and Pranitha Subhash alongside seasoned actors Shilpa Shetty and Paresh Rawal.


Today, the team dropped the first poster of Hungama 2, featuring Meezaan Jaffery, Pranitha Subhash, Shilpa Shetty and Paresh Rawal. Except for Paresh Rawal, the rest of the cast includes actor who were not part of the original film. Apart from the first poster, the team also announced the official release date of the film. Hungama 2, which has been touted as clean family comedy, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 14th August, 2020.

Sharing the first poster of Hungama 2 on her Instagram, Shilpa Shetty wrote, “Super happy to be a part of the reboot of everyone’s favourite comedy entertainer Hungama 2! Grateful to be working again with Ratanji who introduced me to this industry and this is the first time I’ll be working with the maverick Priyadarshan Sir who has always been on my bucket list. Can’t wait to dive into this fun journey with Pareshji @meezaanj @pranitha.insta and the entire cast. Get ready for Confusion Unlimited... releases on 14th Aug, 2020!

Yash, who plays the demon king Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, says his portrayal was shaped by one clear goal: making the character relatable beyond Indian audiences.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, where the film was presented alongside major Hollywood releases, the actor said he worked to strip away the purely mythological reading of the role.

"I have tried to internalise the whole essence of Ravana and tried to make him as human as possible at times," Yash told Reuters.

"It is important for people to relate to him, and since we have global ambitions, we need to make it familiar to a Western audience as well."
