Actor Freddy Daruwala’s father tested positive for COVID-19

Model-turned-actor Freddy Daruwala’s father has been tested positive for COVID-19. His 67-year-old father has been isolated in their bungalow.

While talking to a daily, the actor said, “My dad had symptoms of seasonal flu, like fever and body ache. Hence, we took it lightly. On the third or fourth day, I thought that we should get him tested considering the current scenario. The reports that came a couple of days back showed positive results.”

“The BMC suggested that we should keep him in a place with many rooms and washrooms. So, we kept him at home because we thought that the hospitals may be used by someone who really needs it,” he added.

Well, everyone in his house is under self-isolation; the actor is worried about his 15-month-old son, Evaan. He said, “We’re all under home isolation. I’m more worried about my son, Evaan. There’s over-consumption of information related to Coronavirus. So we keep worrying about what if something happens to him. We’re trying our best to keep our son away from contracting any infection. I’m also making sure that I don’t make my father feel ostracised. I’m taking care of my wife and sexagenarian mum too.”

Freddy also revealed that BMC has sealed his house and it was also sanitized. The actor said, “The BMC came and put up a notice outside our bungalow and have sealed it. They also sanitized our house. Since we’ve many rooms, isolation at home has become easier.”

Talking about Freddy's projects, he was last seen in Zee5's web series Poison which released in 2019.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
