Varun Dhawan in talks to headline horror-comedy Stree 2

Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles, Stree was one of the biggest surprise hits of 2018. Made on a shoestring budget of ₹ 20 crores, the Amar Kaushik directorial racked up approximately ₹ 130 crores at the domestic box-office, thus earning the status of an all-time blockbuster.

After the humongous success of the horror-comedy, the makers announced a sequel to the film, which is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2020. While many people thought that Rajkummar Rao would return to reprise his role in the sequel, we hear that the National Film Award-winning actor might get replaced by rising star Varun Dhawan.


Yes, if fresh media reports are anything to go by, the makers are in talks with Dhawan to topline Stree 2. According to some reports, the actor has been spotted having meetings with the makers of the movie. However, things are expected to get clear only after the makers officially announce any cast reshuffle.

Meanwhile, Varun is presently busy promoting his ambitious film Kalank. Also featuring Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur in prominent roles, the Abhishek Verman directorial is set to release on 17th April, 2019.

Rao, on the other hand, is gearing up for the release of his next Mental Hai Kya. The movie reunites him with his Queen (2014) co-star Kangana Ranaut after a gap of five years. It is expected to roll into theatres in the month of May.
