Super fan of the week - Suriya

One of the most popular movie stars in India, Suriya has starred in a series of blockbusters that have delighted fans all over the world.

The talented actor has also produced movies and won hearts with his philanthropic activities. The megastar has won many admirers globally, including dedicated super fan Linju from Kerala, in India, who goes that one step extra for his idol.


Eastern Eye caught up with Linju to find out more.

What first connected you to Suriya? 

I watched his movie Vaaranam Aayiram and instantly became a dedicated fan of Suriya anna. That admiration has kept growing.

What made you become a super fan? 

I think my craziness about him has kept growing in the past 11 years. I admire him, follow him and make poster designs of him.

What has been your most memorable moment? 

Fortunately, I got a chance to meet my hero in real life. I can still feel that warm welcome he gave me and remember the wide smile and hug I got from Suriya anna in January 2017.

Tell us about something super you have done for Suriya?

I follow his every move and support him always. I enjoy doing poster designs only for him, which he noticed and appreciated. In fact, he kept one of my designs as his WhatsApp display photo, which was a moment of pride for me.

Which quality in the celebrity do you most relate to? 

His kindness.

What is the thing you most love about Suriya?

His humility and down-to-earth nature. When I met him, he treated me like one of his friends and made me feel like a brother.

What is your favourite work Suriya has done? 

I love all his work on screen and he is my favourite actor. But, my favourite work of his is the charity he set up called Agaram Foundation, which does such amazing work.

Why do you love being a super fan?

It makes me happy. My ultimate dream is to work with him professionally one day.
