Sunny Hinduja ecstatic as Mardaani 2 garners widespread acclaim

Starring Rani Mukerji in the lead role of IPS officer Shivani Shivaji Roy, Mardaani 2 has been doing great business ever since hitting the box-office on 13th December. Produced by Aditya Chopra and helmed by writer-director Gopi Puthran, Mardaani 2 is a sequel to the 2014 hit Mardaani.

Ever since entering theatres on 13th December, the film has been receiving widespread acclaim from various corners. Not just critics lauded it for its taut writing, excellent performances and deft direction by debutant Gopi Puthran, but the audiences also gave a thumbs up to it by turning up in huge numbers in cinemas. Strong word of mouth also helped the film become the first choice of the audience, especially in multiplex.

Though Mardaani 2 primarily revolves around Rani Mukerji and Vishal Jethwa’s characters, there are several other characters which stood out beautifully in the film, one of them being the character of Viplaw Beniwal, played by Sunny Hinduja.

"My character in the film is that of a crude and corrupt politician who does anything and everything to stay in power. It is a cameo. Looking at the current state of the nation, this film is a need of the hour and it has been rightly conveyed that every girl, woman can be Mardaani," said Sunny.

Just before the release of Mardaani 2, Sunny Hinduja was also seen in Amazon Prime Video Original The Family Man. On receiving compliments for both his projects, the actor added, "It is an amazing feeling, receiving so much love from so many people! I am really happy and in complete gratitude."

'Resident Evil' trailer repositions the franchise around Austin Abrams’ civilian lead

Highlights

  • Austin Abrams leads the reboot as an ordinary courier caught in chaos
  • Zach Cregger directs a new story with no legacy characters
  • Franchise worth over £950 million globally takes a more grounded approach

An unlikely lead at the centre of horror

The new trailer for Resident Evil shifts the focus away from seasoned fighters and places Austin Abrams at the heart of the outbreak. Playing a courier who stumbles into a crisis in Raccoon City, Abrams represents a different kind of protagonist for the franchise.

There are no familiar heroes this time. Instead, the story follows someone with no experience of survival or combat, caught in a situation that rapidly spirals beyond control. The approach changes the tone, turning the narrative into something more immediate and less predictable.
