Sidharth Malhotra to romance Parineeti Chopra in Shotgun Shaadi?

There have been a lot of speculations lately that producer Ekta Kapoor is planning to rope in Shraddha Kapoor opposite Sidharth Malhotra in her upcoming production venture, Shotgun Shaadi. However, if sources are to be believed, actress Parineeti Chopra has been finalized to play the female lead.

A leading Indian daily reports that though Parineeti Chopra's name has yet not been announced officially, she is confirmed to headline the flick. An official confirmation is expected to be made very soon.

If Chopra has really been locked as the female lead in Shotgun Shaadi, it will mark her second association with Sidharth Malhotra. The duo first appeared in the 2014 film Hasee Toh Phasee, bankrolled by Dharma Productions and Phantom Films.

Meanwhile, Parineeti, who was last seen in Golmaal Again, is shooting for Namaste England opposite Arjun Kapoor. Her next Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar also stars Arjun Kapoor as the male lead. She also plays a pivotal role in Akshay Kumar's period film Kesari.

  • Producer Namit Malhotra compares the film's tone to Lord of the Rings and Gladiator.
Yash, who plays the demon king Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, says his portrayal was shaped by one clear goal: making the character relatable beyond Indian audiences.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, where the film was presented alongside major Hollywood releases, the actor said he worked to strip away the purely mythological reading of the role.

"I have tried to internalise the whole essence of Ravana and tried to make him as human as possible at times," Yash told Reuters.

"It is important for people to relate to him, and since we have global ambitions, we need to make it familiar to a Western audience as well."
