Shakuntala Devi – Human Computer: Sanya Malhotra’s look as Anupama Banerji unveiled

Vidya Balan will be seen playing the titular role in Shakuntala Devi – Human Computer. The shooting of the biopic on the mathematician is currently going on and Sanya Malhotra has been roped in to play Shakuntala Devi’s daughter Anupama Banerji.

The actress yesterday gave a small glimpse of her look and tweeted, “Wait, don’t judge a book by its cover? Stay tuned for what’s behind it- tomorrow! #AnupamaBanerji #ShakuntalaDevi @vidya_balan @sonypicsprodns @SnehaRajani @anumenon1805 @vikramix @Abundantia_Ent.”

And today, Sanya took to Twitter to unveil her look. She tweeted, “Super excited to play Anupama Banerji in #ShakuntalaDevi ♥️Already in love with my look in the film ? @vidya_balan @sonypicsprodns @SnehaRajani @anumenon1805 @vikramix @Abundantia_Ent #AnupmaBanerji.”

While talking about joining the cast, Sanya had earlier stated, "I am very excited to play the iconic Shakuntala Devi’s daughter - Anupama Banerji. Everyone knows the achievements of the math genius Shakuntala Devi. I’m thrilled to bring onscreen this dynamic mother-daughter relationship and equally thrilled to work with Vidya Balan. Also, looking forward to my first association with Sony Pictures Networks Productions and Vikram Malhotra."

The biopic is being directed by Anu Menon, and while talking about roping in Sanya for the role, she had stated, "When I met my namesake Anupama Banerji, Shakuntala’s daughter, I went to find the story of a maths whiz - but through spending time with Anupama, I found the story of a woman who was not just a computer but human too! And I can’t think of a better person than Sanya who can capture the love of a daughter for her indefinable mother! Sanya instinctively understood the character and her journey - and I can’t wait to start shooting with her. I think the audience will fall in love with both Sanya's and Vidya’s characters."

Shakuntala Devi – Human Computer is slated to release during Summer 2020.
