Shakeela teaser: Will this time Shakeela get the audience back to the theatres?

Murtuza Iqbal

We all know that due to the pandemic, theatres were shut in India for a long time. The cinemas have reopened with 50 percent of the occupancy but the footfalls are less. The first Bollywood film to hit the big screens was Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari which didn’t do a good business at the box office, and now Indoo Ki Jawani is all set to release in theatres this week.

After Indoo Ki Jawani, we will get to see Richa Chadha starrer Shakeela on the big screen which is slated to release on Christmas this year. The film is a biopic on South siren Shakeela and the makers have released the teaser of the film today.

In the teaser, we don’t get to know much about the film. It focuses on Richa Chadha and her super hot avatar as Shakeela. But what grabbed our attention is the narration in the teaser.

So, the teaser starts with a narration where a voice says that in the 90s when cinema halls had no crowd, then exhibitors and distributors would only take one name, Shakeela. And today (2020), cinemas are empty once again, and again her name is being called.

Well, it will surely be interesting to see if Shakeela will get the audience back to the theatres or not.

Directed Indrajit Lankesh, Shakeela also stars Pankaj Tripathi in a pivotal role.

While talking about the film, Richa stated, "I am happy that the film is releasing. Hopefully, it will bring some laughter and entertainment into the lives of people and this depressing year will end on a happier note. Shakeela's story is unlike any other and yet it's universal. She is very well known down south and it will be interesting to see how it will be received here. She did rule the roost for many years, providing steady business to cinema halls in times of crisis. It was also great to reunite with Pankaj ji."

  • Three-quarters said they would support paying more tax to fund public services and national assets.
  • Only 9 per cent said they were most concerned about millionaires leaving the UK.

At a time when fears of wealthy people leaving Britain over higher taxes continue to dominate political and business debate, a new survey suggests many UK millionaires may not be as eager to flee as widely believed.

Research conducted for Patriotic Millionaires UK found that most wealthy respondents still feel strongly attached to the country, with many even backing higher taxes to support public services and infrastructure.
