Shahid Kapoor on Kabir Singh: He is flawed, so are we all

Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh has turned out to be his biggest hit as a solo hero movie. The film has collected Rs 206.48 crore in 13 days beating the lifetime collection of Salman Khan starrer Bharat. The movie is now the second highest grosser of the year till date and looks like it will easily cross the collection of Uri: The Surgical Strike and become the highest grossing film of the year.

While the film is earning big moolah at the box office, there are a lot of discussions going on about the concept of the film as Shahid’s character is shown to be quite over-protective towards his girlfriend and also in one of the scenes he slaps his girlfriend. Of course, the character of Kabir Singh has flaws and Shahid also agrees with it.

As Kabir Singh is a blockbuster, Shahid Kapoor took to Instagram to thank his fans for all the love they have given to the movie. Along with a video of the collection, he wrote, “Your love is so overwhelming words will always fall short. Thank you for understanding him forgiving him and loving him with all your heart. We all fall apart. And we all must strive to rise from our faults. To be better. To be wiser. To be kinder. He is flawed. So are we all. You didn’t judge him you experienced him. You understood him. I have never ever felt so thankful. The most flawed character I have ever played. Has become my most loved. Indeed indian cinema and the audience has come a long way. More power to brave choices. More power to you all for your maturity and humanness. You have given me wings to fly. To not only be burdened by the need to be loved to be a star but to have the courage to be hated in equal measure to be an actor. Here’s to cinema mirroring life. To protagonists who don’t have to be restricted by their goodness and can be human and imperfect. There is perfection in imperfection and that is the beauty and the challenge of this human life. Thank you. Again and again. You all are the heroes of this story.”

Also starring Kiara Advani, Kabir Singh is a remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy and it is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga who had also helmed the original movie.

  • Government could make UK investment mandatory if voluntary commitments fall short.
  • Ministers want pension savings to play a bigger role in boosting economic growth.

The UK government has stepped up pressure on UK pension funds, warning they could be legally required to invest more in British businesses if voluntary commitments fail to deliver. Business Secretary Peter Kyle said pension providers have a responsibility to support the domestic economy and signalled that ministers are prepared to use legislative powers if necessary.

Speaking at an event hosted by Lloyds Banking Group in London, Kyle reportedly said he would prefer voluntary action over legal intervention but would not hesitate to introduce mandatory investment rules if progress remained slow.
