Karan Johar to develop, produce and distribute Sidharth Malhotra’s Shershah

According to reports, filmmaker Karan Johar has decided to buy all the rights related to an upcoming feature film based on the life of Kargil martyr Vikram Batra. Earlier, KJo was set to co-produce it with producer Shabbir Boxwala. It stars Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role.

Though no one knows what exactly led the filmmaker to terminate the deal with Boxwala’s Friday Cine Entertainment Private Limited, some insiders inform that he took the decision after realizing that the project was not progressing at the speed it should generally have.

Karan and his team have titled the project as Shershah. “The film has also got a name now. It will be called Shershah, will be directed by Vishnu Vardhan and has been written by Sandeep Shrivastava. Dharma (Productions) is now acquiring it from Friday Cine Entertainment Private Limited to produce, develop and distribute.”

While Sidharth Malhotra was confirmed to play the male lead in the project even before Karan Johar came onboard to co-produce it, the makers are yet to finalize the female lead for the same.

An announcement is expected soon.
