Irrfan Khan admitted to Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai

Internationally popular Indian actor Irrfan Khan, who lost his mother Saeeda Begum on Saturday, has been admitted to Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai. The actor was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018.

Confirming the development, Khan’s spokesperson released a statement and said that the 53-year-old actor has been admitted to ICU at Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai because of a colon infection.

“Yes, it is true that Irrfan Khan is admitted to ICU at Kokilaben in Mumbai because of a colon infection. We would keep everyone updated. He is under doctors’ observation. His strength and courage have helped him battle and fight so far and we are sure that with his tremendous willpower and prayers of all his well-wishers, he will recover soon,” read the statement.

The actor has been struggling with his health ever since he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018. Days after learning about his disease, he reached London for his treatment. He returned to India in February 2019 and shot for his next film Angrezi Medium (2020).

A couple of months later, Irrfan Khan landed in London again to continue his treatment and returned to India after his surgery in September last year. He has been under medical attention ever since.

The actor was last seen onscreen in Maddock Films’ Angrezi Medium. The film was a sequel to his 2017 superhit satirical comedy Hindi Medium. The sequel hit the marquee on 13th March, 2020. However, it failed to do commercially well simply because a nationwide lockdown was imposed in India days after the release of the film.

Angrezi Medium recently premiered on Disney+ Hotstar and received praises from all corners.
