Dabangg 3 lands winter 2019 release date

The first official teaser poster of much-awaited Bollywood film Dabangg 3 has been unveiled, along with the announcement of the official release date of the movie. Toplined by megastar Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Sudeep, the cop-drama will make its way into theatres on 20th December, 2019.

Dabangg 3, the third instalment of the Arbaaz Khan-produced cop-franchise Dabangg (2010), features Salman Khan in his iconic role of Chulbul Pandey. In the first teaser poster of the movie, we can see his famous police uniform, with the name badge ‘Chulbul Pandey’ placed right above the right pocket.

The film, which mounted the shooting floor on 1st April, 2019, is currently being shot at Goregaon Filmcity in Mumbai. After filming some important scenes at its current shooting location, Salman Khan and Sudeep will shoot an intense action scene at a Dahisar studio in Mumbai.

Produced by Arbaaz Khan Productions and Salman Khan Films, Dabangg 3 is being directed by Prabhudeva. The choreographer-turned-filmmaker is directing Salman Khan again after a gap of a decade. They last worked together on Boney Kapoor’s Wanted in 2009.

Upon its release on 20th December, Dabangg 3 will lock horns with Dharma Productions’ big-budgeted fantasy film Brahmastra. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy, the Ayan Mukerji directorial is also hitting screens on the same date.

Yash says Ravana in Ramayana must connect with Western viewers as film eyes global audience

Highlights

  • Yash says he humanised Ravana to help global audiences relate to the character.
  • Asura designs in the first glimpse drew criticism for looking too Western-inspired.
  • Producer Namit Malhotra compares the film's tone to Lord of the Rings and Gladiator.
Yash, who plays the demon king Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, says his portrayal was shaped by one clear goal: making the character relatable beyond Indian audiences.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, where the film was presented alongside major Hollywood releases, the actor said he worked to strip away the purely mythological reading of the role.

"I have tried to internalise the whole essence of Ravana and tried to make him as human as possible at times," Yash told Reuters.

"It is important for people to relate to him, and since we have global ambitions, we need to make it familiar to a Western audience as well."
