Anushka Sharma gets active on production front

Anushka Sharma was last seen in Zero (2018) and it has been more than a year since she has not graced the silver screen. If sources are to be believed, the talented actress is not going to be seen in any movie in 2020 either. Instead, she has decided to devote her time to her production house, Clean Slate Productions.

Sharma is currently gearing up to produce a digital film called Bulbul which she announced in 2019. The latest update on the forthcoming project is that her banner will introduce lyricist-screenwriter Anvita Dutt Guptan as a director with Bulbul. Anvita has a number of hit songs and movies to her credit.

Bulbul is said to be a supernatural thriller set in the city of Kolkata. It is a period film. The makers are planning to shoot it on a lavish scale. Once complete, the digital film will stream on popular OTT platform Netflix.

Talking about the star cast, Bulbul will feature Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri in lead roles. Both actors began their acting career together with Ekta Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali’s movie Laila Majnu (2018). Though the film did not set the box-office on fire, the two actors did manage to garner a lot of attention and love of the audience. Anushka was also impressed with their performances in the movie and decided to rope them in to headline her maiden digital venture.

Now coming back to the question that everyone has in their heads: when will Anushka announce her next film as the leading lady? Well, rumours are rife in the tinsel town of Bollywood that she has already locked her next film. It is a biopic on all-rounder cricketer Jhulan Goswami which Pari (2018) fame Prosit Roy may helm. However, no official confirmation has been made in this regard.

UK becomes key hurdle for Paramount's £81 billion Warner Bros. Discovery takeover

  • The UK government is considering intervening in Paramount Skydance's proposed £81 billion ($110 billion) takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery.
  • Ministers want to assess the deal's impact on media plurality, news diversity and streaming services.
  • Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery have until July 6 to respond before a decision is made.

The Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger has cleared several major regulatory hurdles around the world, but the proposed £81 billion ($110 billion) deal is now facing fresh scrutiny in the UK. The British government is considering intervening on public interest grounds, raising the possibility of further delays to one of the largest media transactions in recent years.

The potential intervention centres on concerns over media plurality, news diversity and the future of television and streaming services available to UK audiences. If ministers decide to proceed, the transaction could face a more detailed investigation despite already receiving approvals in markets including the US, China, Australia, Germany, France and Saudi Arabia.
