Anees Bazmee plans a sequel to hit comic-caper Mubarakan?

Starring Arjun Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruze and Athiya Shetty in lead roles, Mubarakan was one of the most loved comedy films of 2017. Apart from tickling the funny bones of the audience, the movie also made good money at the box-office, ensuring that the producers laughed all the way to the bank.

The Anees Bazmee directorial recently marked two years of its theatrical release, and now we hear that a sequel to the comic-caper is already in the works. Yes, you heard that absolutely right. According to fresh media reports, director Anees Bazmee is planning a sequel to the successful film.

It has been reported by several media outlets that Anil Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz were already part of the initial discussions regarding the sequel, and now Athiya Shetty and Arjun Kapoor have also been approached to join the cast and reprise their respective roles in the second instalment of the movie.

“They planned to make a sequel as quickly as possible and to try and release the film by Christmas next year or the following one, depending on schedules. Sequels often do not have the entire cast in place as the heroines are changed, but this time around, the girls might just get lucky,” a source close to the development tells an Indian daily.

Meanwhile, Anees Bazmee is currently busy working on his next directorial Pagalpanti. Starring Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Ileana D'Cruz, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda, Urvashi Rautela and Saurabh Shukla, the film is an out-and-out comic-caper set to release on 8th November. After the release of Pagalpanti, Anees Bazmee was expected to begin work on Aankhen 2, but nothing has been confirmed officially.
