AANKHEN 2: SHOOTING DETAILS, CAST, AND EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Headlined by Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal, Aankhen was one of the most successful films of 2002. The heist thriller, revolving around three blind men and a vengeful bank manager, still attracts a huge chunk of the audience on television premieres and has gained a cult following over the years.

Talks about a sequel to the much-loved film have been around for many years now. A sequel was even announced in the year 2016 by producer Gaurang Doshi. However, the project got embroiled in a controversy soon after its official announcement and could never hit the floor.

But now, the makers have confirmed the sequel with a totally new team. While Aankhen was directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Aankhen 2 will be helmed by hit filmmaker Anees Bazmee. Producer Tarun Agarwal is co-producing the movie with Sunil Lulla.

If all goes well, Aankhen 2 will mount the shooting floor in mid-2019. As far as the casting is concerned, only Amitabh Bachchan has been retained from the original film and search for other important roles is still on.

“Mr Bachchan is onboard and for the rest of the cast, we are looking for younger actors and are currently in talks with some but can’t divulge any other names yet,” confirmed producer Tarun Agarwal.

“We will be filming in London and Georgia. The casino, as required in the story, has already been booked in Georgia. For the rest of the locations, we are scouting in the UK,” he added.

Among the 18 shows unveiled by Soho Theatre for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, two names stand out in terms of south Asian representation: Tarang Hardikar and Kanan Gill.

Their inclusion is not incidental. Soho Theatre has, in recent years, positioned itself as a key platform for Indian comedians entering the UK and global circuit, and the 2026 programme continues that trajectory.
