According to reports, Yash Raj Films was gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary with much fanfare. However, the much-awaited celebration has reportedly been put on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The leading production house, which has delivered some of Hindi cinema’s biggest blockbusters over the years, was planning to announce a slew of projects on its 50th anniversary. The celebration, tentatively titled Project 50, was set to witness the presence of several Bollywood heavyweights such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan. YRF had big plans to announce big-ticket films with some of these stars. However, Coronavirus seems to have thrown cold water on their plans.

“Project 50 was supposed to be a big event that would announce even bigger films, but with the lockdown, all plans for it have now been pushed. In fact, the studio was also recording messages from A-list actors who they have worked with in the past, but that has also been affected due to the lockdown. In essence, all prep work for the grand celebrations has taken a hit, and has been pushed,” a source divulges to a publication.
The source goes on to add, “All projects, be it with Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif or anyone has been pushed. No date has been finalized yet, but the studio will take a decision based on the scenario once the lockdown has been lifted and things go back to normal.”

Founded by veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra in 1970, Yash Raj Films has gone from strength to strength ever since coming into being. Apart from delivering several iconic films, the production house has also launched a number of newcomers who have gone on to become a big name in showbiz.
