Aamir Khan promotes Dangal in China ahead of release

Basking in the success of his movies 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 and PK in China, a rare feat for an Indian film actor, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is now promoting his recent outing Dangal.

While his 3 Idiots was a big hit, especially among students and parents, PK too became a big winner grossing 100 million Yuan (USD 16.70 million approx)

It was a bit surprise for Aamir, who told the media here that none of his films were a success in China, until the release of his first collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani

He said: "Films featuring top artists from both the countries could bring the two nations close."

A large number of Aamir's fans turned up to watch the preview of the Chinese version of Dangal in Beijing.

The Nitish Tiwari-directed movie will release in China next month

The 51-year-old actor will also visit Shanghai and Chengdu to promote his film

Recently, China has increased the quota of Indian films to be screened from two to four, after joint productions Kung Fu Yoga and Buddies in India fared well at the box office during the Chinese New Year.

Riz Ahmed’s 'Hamlet' trailer drops murder suspicion into a South Asian business dynasty

Highlights:

  • Hamlet trailer lands with Riz Ahmed in the lead role
  • Film sets Shakespeare inside a wealthy British South Asian family
  • Directed by Aneil Karia and in cinemas 6 February 2025
  • Cast includes Morfydd Clark, Joe Alwyn, Sheeba Chadha and Art Malik

Riz Ahmed has entered Hamlet in a way British cinema has not quite seen. The new Hamlet trailer has been released by Universal, giving the first proper look at Aneil Karia’s modern take on Shakespeare and placing the story inside a British South Asian business empire. It is due in cinemas on 6 February, and the footage shows a tense, controlled Ahmed moving through grief, suspicion and family power.

The film teams Ahmed and Karia again after The Long Goodbye, which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short. That success informs this production. This is the first time a major UK studio release has grounded Hamlet within a South Asian household for a wide audience.
