Varun Dhawan confirms remaking Coolie No. 1

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who is gearing up to launch the trailer of his hotly anticipated period drama Kalank on 12th February, has confirmed that he is joining forces with his filmmaker father David Dhawan to remake the 1995 hit Coolie No. 1.

Starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles, Coolie No. 1 is one of the most successful films of the No. 1 franchise created by David Dhawan. Rumours about it being remade have hit headlines many times in the past few years.

There have been speculations that Alia Bhatt will reteam with Varun Dhawan in the remake. However, the actor says that the remake will not feature the talented actress as he cannot do every film with her. “I can’t do every film with Alia Bhatt,” he said.

Buzz also has it that if not Alia, newcomer Sara Ali Khan could be paired opposite him in the remake. When asked about the same, Varun said, “That you will know soon. I don’t want to say it now, but Alia and me are not working. We’ll give a little break to people because I think for everyone it is like ‘oh, they are back again’.”

Varun and Alia will shortly be seen in Dharma Productions’ Kalank, set to release on 19th April, 2019.
