Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar’s Saand Ki Aankh was offered to Kangana Ranaut, reveals Rangoli

Saand Ki Aankh is a biopic on Shooter Dadis, Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar. In an age where women prefer to sit at home and enjoy a relaxed life, these two women picked up guns and won medals. It was in their 60s when they got fame for their shooting skills.

The biopic stars Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. From the day the film has been announced there’s a debate going on that why the makers opted to cast young actresses and didn’t cast senior actresses for the roles.

Giving a clarification on the same, producer Nidhi Parmar had earlier told Mid-day, "We approached actors in the age bracket of 55 to 60 since we felt the portrayals would be more convincing. However, most declined the role as they didn't want to be seen in an unglamorous avatar, or felt that they weren't ready for the physical preparation that the film demanded."

The trailer of the film was launched yesterday and once again the debate about casting started on Twitter. A Twitter user tweeted, “I love @bhumipednekar and @taapsee but I kinda wish older actors were cast in these roles. Could you imagine @Neenagupta001 and @AzmiShabana or Jaya Bachchan? #SaandKiAankh.”

To this veteran actress Neena Gupta replied, “Yes i was just thinking about this hamari umar ke role toe kamsekam humse kara lo bhai.”

This tweet of Neena Gupta grabbed the attention of Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli. She went on to reveal that Kangana was offered the film, but she suggested the makers to cast Neena Gupta and Ramya Krishnan (Baahubali fame) in the lead roles.

Rangoli tweeted, “Neena ji Kangana was offered this movie and she loved the true story of Grandmom’s achievements she suggested yours and Ramya Krishnan ma’am’s name for lead roles but these men can’t remove deeply rooted sexism from their filthy brains ...”

Well, we wonder what the makers of Saand Ki Aankh have to say about these tweets of Neena Gupta and Rangoli.
