Super fan of the week - Drashti Dhami

TALENTED TV star Drashti Dhami has won over devoted fans with her impressive body of work and stardom, including Moumita Nath. The super fan from West Bengal first felt connected to Drashti after seeing her multi-layered performance in hit serial Madhubala — Ek Ishq Ek Junoon.

Eastern Eye caught up with Moumita to find out more.


What made you become a super fan?

I don’t know if I am worthy of being called a super fan, but I became a crazy fan after watching her on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6. Her talent and beauty are god-given, but also she is dedicated and hard-working. I joined Twitter for her and after that, there has been no looking back! Her acting ability has held me by her side and that bond is growing stronger!

Tell us something super you have done for Drashti?

I have taken leave for trending and voting for her! I gave my colleagues a treat when Drashti reached the second position on Eastern Eye’s 50 Sexiest Asian Women list in 2014.

What has been your most memorable moment?

It is yet to come, as it would be meeting her in person.

What do you love most about Drashti?

She is hardworking, dedicated, optimistic, dignified, diligent, graceful and a humble and beautiful human being! She is inspiring; she stays strong and positive; she never gets affected by negativity and handles it with grace. Even after reaching great heights of success she is grounded.

Which quality in Drashti do you relate to?

She doesn’t feel any obligation to pose perfectly or look perfect while taking pictures and feels no discomfort in sharing minimal make-up photos without any filter!

What is your favourite work by her?

Character wise Madhubala — Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, acting wise Nandini (Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka) and Drashti wise Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6.

Why do you love being a super fan?

Just standing by her side, even though virtually, gives me sheer happiness. Just a glance of her makes me smile and also the fandom feels like a family with her as centre of concern!

‘Most sexualised profession’: Kangana raises concern over perception of nurses

Ahead of the release of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has said that nursing remains one of the most misunderstood and sexualised professions.

Speaking to ANI, Ranaut said nurses do not receive the dignity and recognition they deserve despite their crucial role in healthcare. She described nursing as “the most sexualised profession” and said they are often overworked, underpaid and overlooked.
