Shekhar Kapur involved in an accident in Manchester

On the work front, Kapur is gearing up to direct the sequel to his 1983 cult Hindi film Masoom.

Noted filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, known for helming such iconic films as Mr. India (1987), Bandit Queen (1994), Elizabeth (1998), and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007), was involved in an accident in Manchester.

The BAFTA Award winner took to social media platform X to share the news with his fans and followers. He also praised the National Health Service (NHS) for medical care.

Had an accident in Manchester, and must thank @jsbamrah, @Shoulderpedia, @RajMurali4, @WWLNHS for looking after me so well… and a big shout out to the NHS… surpasses private medical care,” the 77-year-old wrote on X.

Several celebrities and fans took to the comment section of his post and wished him a speedy recovery.

Multiple award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee, who worked with Shekar in Bandit Queen, wrote, “OHHH! Hope you are alright sir! Wish you a speedy recovery! Take care!”

Not much else is known about the accident at the moment. More updates are expected to arrive soon.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kapur is gearing up to direct the sequel to his 1983 cult Hindi film Masoom, which was an official adaptation of the 1980 novel Man, Woman and Child by Erich Segal. Titled Masoom: The Next Generation, the sequel will feature veteran actress Shabana Azmi in a pivotal role. Casting for other important characters is currently underway.
