Shahid Kapoor starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu postponed yet again

Within hours of announcing a new release date for their film Batti Gul Meter Chalu, the makers of the social drama movie postponed it yet again. Yes, Shahid Kapoor’s much-awaited movie Batti Gul Meter Chalu has been now shifted from 14th September to 21st September.

Renowned film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on Twitter. "Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam... #BattiGulMeterChalu, which was slated for release on 14 Sept 2018, will now release on 21 Sept 2018... Directed by Shree Narayan Singh," he wrote.

Initially, the Shree Narayan Singh directed movie was scheduled to hit screens on 31st August, 2018. But since Shraddha Kapoor’s horror comedy Stree was also coming on the same date and the fact that Batti Gul Meter Chalu and Stree both starred Shraddha as the female lead, the makers of the former film deferred it to 14th September.

But little did the makers of Batti Gul Meter Chalu know that if they released their film on 14th September, they would face direct competition from Kajol’s Helicopter Eela and Diljit Dosanjh and Kriti Sanon’s Arjun Patiala. When they really realized it, they moved to a new date.

Also starring Yami Gautam, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is produced by T-series.

UK becomes key hurdle for Paramount's £81 billion Warner Bros. Discovery takeover

  • The UK government is considering intervening in Paramount Skydance's proposed £81 billion ($110 billion) takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery.
  • Ministers want to assess the deal's impact on media plurality, news diversity and streaming services.
  • Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery have until July 6 to respond before a decision is made.

The Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger has cleared several major regulatory hurdles around the world, but the proposed £81 billion ($110 billion) deal is now facing fresh scrutiny in the UK. The British government is considering intervening on public interest grounds, raising the possibility of further delays to one of the largest media transactions in recent years.

The potential intervention centres on concerns over media plurality, news diversity and the future of television and streaming services available to UK audiences. If ministers decide to proceed, the transaction could face a more detailed investigation despite already receiving approvals in markets including the US, China, Australia, Germany, France and Saudi Arabia.
