Priyanka Chopra opens up about her friendship with Meghan Markle

Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle is just a few weeks away, and one person who has confirmed her attendance is the Suits actress' good friend Priyanka Chopra.

On Wednesday (2) Chopra opened up about her friendship with the future royal, calling Markle a "girl's girl."

"I've known her for three years now," Chopra told Rachael Ray.  "I'm so happy for everything that's happened to her because I really feel like she's one of those female icons that you know could be a strong idol for young girls around the world because she really cares about the world. For real cares."

Chopra also revealed that Markle texts often and still makes an effort to catch up with her friends.

Chopra also touched upon Markle's big day on The Jenny McCarthy Show. "I think she was born to be a global influencer, and this has given her the opportunity to do that," said Chopra. "Because she's always someone who's so, just, aware, and interested in the world. That's what we bonded on, how much you know we feel like we can contribute to that as public people."

Chopra's comments come as Markle's estranged half-brother Thomas Markle Jr published an open letter urging Prince Harry to cancel his wedding.

Calling the 36-year-old a "jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage," Thomas said their family went into debt to support Markle's acting career. He also claims that their father was not invited to the wedding.

"What kind of person starts out by using her own father until he's bankrupt, then forgets about him in Mexico leaving him broke, over mostly all her debts," the letter continued.  "And when it's time to pay him back she forgets her own father like she never knew him. It's very apparent that her tiny bit of Hollywood fame has gone to her head."
