Never Have I Ever 2, which premiered on July 15 on Netflix, has been winning raves from across the board. Just like its predecessor, the second season of the coming-of-age comedy-drama starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and co-created by Mindy Kaling, has turned out to be an instant hit and fans are already calling for a season 3.
By the end of Never Have I Ever 2, Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) has gone through a lot in her personal life and taken some questionable decisions. The season finale saw Paxton (Darren Barnet) and Devi rekindle their relationship just in time for the school’s winter dance. The season ended with the duo dancing in front of the entire school.
Discussing the season finale, Barnet says, “I really thought it was such a picture-perfect moment. The way that it’s shot, the feeling and emotion in that scene, and also that song that is playing, it has been on repeat for me. This is Paxton and Devi, together as a couple, but still with enough ambiguity where you don't know where that's going to lead. She even says, ‘I wonder what that's going to be like.’”
What makes the season finale interesting is the fact that Eleanor (Ramona Young) shares a little secret with Devi’s other former love interest Ben (Jaren Lewison) who is inconspicuously upset after watching Paxton and Devi dance together: Devi wanted to choose him at the start of all of this. In other words, he is not totally out of the race if he does not want to be.
Co-creator Mindy Kaling states, “I have watched enough romantic comedies that it's not interesting unless it's constantly shifting and changing. Having the lead character be happy in love is not super interesting to me. It's more suspenseful when we don't know.”
Jaren Lewison says, “That scene gave me goosebumps because I realized Ben has such an inner conflict that has just surfaced that he is now going to have to deal with. You're thinking, okay, he's kind of got this relationship with Aneesa (Megan Suri) going on. And it's like, can he continue putting his heart into that? Or is his heart in a different place? And if it is, can he even do anything about it? How do you navigate that? I'm really excited, fingers crossed, for season 3 to see that explored. It's a situation that we've never seen him in. Both of those girls have some really incredible qualities that Ben's really attracted to, and I think it's going to come down to what is going to make him a better person. Who's going to challenge him in specific ways, and who's going to make him feel seen?"
Never Have I Ever season 2 is streaming on Netflix.
Who is Patchwork? That’s the question everyone’s asking after Glastonbury dropped its full 2025 line-up this week. Alongside headliners Olivia Rodrigo, The 1975, Neil Young, and Rod Stewart, one particular name stood out, and not for its fame. Slotted into the iconic Pyramid Stage on Saturday at 6:15 PM, between John Fogerty and Raye, is a complete unknown: Patchwork.
For Glastonbury regulars, this isn’t just a random name. It’s a tradition. The festival is famous for surprise sets under mysterious aliases. Just last year, an act called The Churnups turned out to be none other than Foo Fighters. With 56 "TBA" listings across the line-up this year, fans are certain this is another big reveal waiting to happen.
Social media detectives are working overtime, and so far, the most popular theory is HAIM. The timing adds up since the trio just announced new music and a UK tour. One fan pointed out that “Patchwork” is the title of a novel by Sylvia Haim, a detail many believe is more than a coincidence. Their 27 June show in Margate leaves a perfect window for a surprise Glasto slot the next evening.

Another front-runner? Pulp. The Britpop legends are dropping a new album this summer and have a gap in their tour schedule. Jarvis Cocker previously said a Glasto return would only happen in a “life-or-death” scenario, but some fans think that was just misdirection.
And then there’s Timothée Chalamet. Yes, really. The actor, who plays Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown, was spotted buying one of Dylan’s patchwork jackets at auction earlier this year. Fans believe he might join the Dylan tribute band “Not Completely Unknown,” already confirmed for the Acoustic Stage. Could he double up on Pyramid?

A tradition of big surprises
Over the years, secret Glastonbury sets have featured everyone from Radiohead to Lady Gaga. Patchwork now joins that cryptic legacy. With just weeks to go until the festival kicks off at Worthy Farm, fans will be left guessing and hoping until that 6:15 Saturday slot reveals its true face. Whether it’s a popular artist or a once-in-a-lifetime reunion, Glastonbury’s latest mystery is doing exactly what it’s meant to, and that is to stir up the hype.

Avengers Doomsday brings together 35 major stars for the ultimate Marvel showdown
Marvel Studios is pulling out all the stops for Avengers: Doomsday, a film so expensive it may not break even, even if it makes over £800 million (₹8,400 crore) at the box office. With production costs expected to hit between £400–480 million (₹4,200–5,040 crore) and marketing pushing the final figure closer to £800 million (₹8,400 crore), it’s already the priciest movie ever made.
Pre-production alone has reportedly cost Marvel £6.4 million (₹67.2 crore), more than three times the total pre-production spend for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Weekly production bills are also double what Quantumania racked up. That film eventually cost £310 million (₹3,255 crore), but Doomsday is operating on a whole other level.
It now surpasses previous record-holders like Star Wars: The Force Awakens (£358 million), Avatar: The Way of Water (£280–368 million), and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (£303 million).
A huge chunk of the budget is being poured into the cast. With at least 35 big-name actors appearing, some in brief cameos and others in major roles, talent salaries are expected to exceed £200 million (₹2,100 crore). Robert Downey Jr., returning not as Iron Man but as Doctor Doom, is among the headline-grabbing casting decisions, alongside names like Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Florence Pugh.
Helmed by the Russo Brothers, who previously delivered Infinity War and Endgame, Doomsday will see the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Wakandans unite on screen. It’s planned as the fifth Avengers movie and the 39th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, set to release on 18 December 2026.
Here’s the catch: Even if Avengers: Doomsday earns more than Jurassic Park (£730 million) or The Lord of the Rings trilogy (average £790 million), it may still be seen as a commercial failure. Factor in global distribution, marketing, and backend deals, and the film would need to cross well over £960 million (₹10,080 crore) just to break even.
So, while Doomsday may become the biggest spectacle ever put to screen, it’s also one of the riskiest bets in Marvel’s history. Whether it soars or stumbles will depend not just on fan turnout, but on how far it can go beyond the £800 million mark.

YouTube star Jimmy Donaldson says he has very little personal savings despite billion-dollar business
Jimmy Donaldson, better known online as MrBeast, is one of the most powerful creators on the internet. But while his videos rake in millions of views and his businesses are reportedly worth over a billion dollars, he says he’s currently short on cash, so much so that he’s borrowing money from his mum to pay for his upcoming wedding.
The 27-year-old YouTuber recently opened up on Twitter, revealing that despite running a growing media empire, he personally has very little money. “I reinvest everything,” he said, noting that he plans to spend around £200 million (₹2,000 crore) this year on content. “Ironically, I’m actually borrowing money from my mum to pay for my wedding,” he added.

Donaldson got engaged to Thea Booysen, a South African content creator, on Christmas Day 2024. The couple has been together since 2022, after meeting during his visit to her home country. They’ve kept most details of their relationship private, but say their wedding will be an intimate affair, likely on a remote island with only close friends and family.
Despite his modest bank balance, MrBeast continues to push high-budget projects. His reality competition show Beast Games, which gave away £8 million (₹80 crore) in prize money, is returning for two more seasons on Prime Video. He reportedly invested tens of millions into the first season alone. In a podcast interview, he admitted that at one point, his personal account held less than £800,000 (₹8 crore) because nearly all profits go back into production and expansion.
Alongside his content empire, MrBeast runs several brands under Beast Industries, including a chocolate line and packaged food products. In 2024, his company generated close to £380 million (₹3,800 crore) in revenue. But the creator has also faced challenges, including lawsuits from contestants and the Mexican government, the latter accusing him of filming promotional content at protected Mayan sites without proper clearance.
Still, Donaldson insists he’s not focused on luxury or saving. “If I fail, no other YouTuber gets a shot at this,” he said about his move into streaming. For now, his wedding plans are simple: time away with people he loves. Even if that means calling mum for help with the bill.

Kamal Haasan refuses to apologise for Kannada origin remark as Thug Life pulled from Karnataka
Actor Kamal Haasan has refused to apologise for his remarks on the origins of Kannada, leading to his upcoming film Thug Life being withheld from release in Karnataka. The Karnataka High Court questioned his stance, suggesting a simple apology could have resolved the escalating tension.
During a hearing on Tuesday, Haasan’s legal team informed the court that the film would not be screened in the state until discussions were held with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), which has demanded an apology. The actor’s counsel argued that Haasan’s written statement, expressing admiration for Kannada and its people, was sufficient, and an apology was unnecessary as there was no ill intent.

However, Justice M Nagaprasanna disagreed, stating that Haasan’s refusal to apologise had only deepened the conflict. “You may be a celebrated actor, but you cannot disregard public sentiment,” the judge remarked, referencing Shakespeare’s line, “Discretion is the better part of valour.” The court pointed out that even former Governor General C Rajagopalachari had apologised for a similar statement decades ago.
The controversy began when Haasan, at Thug Life’s audio launch in Chennai, suggested that Kannada originated from Tamil. This triggered protests across Karnataka, with pro-Kannada groups and even state ministers demanding an apology. Karnataka’s Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi warned of a ban on Haasan’s films if he did not retract his statement.

Despite the backlash, Haasan remains firm. His legal team argued that his comments were misconstrued and meant to highlight cultural unity, not linguistic superiority. The court, however, remained unimpressed, noting that his written response read more like a justification than an attempt at reconciliation.
With the next hearing scheduled for 10 June, the film’s fate in Karnataka hangs in the balance. Meanwhile, political voices, including BJP leader BS Yediyurappa, have called for an apology, emphasising that pride in one’s language should not come at the cost of harmony.
As the debate continues, the question remains: Will Haasan’s defiance strengthen his stance or deepen the divide? For now, Thug Life will release nationwide, except in Karnataka.

Ed Sheeran gets a Punjabi tattoo inspired by his album Sapphire
Ed Sheeran’s recent visit to India wasn’t just another celebrity tour and we know it. From hopping on local buses to sipping chai with Arijit Singh, the British singer-songwriter immersed himself fully in the Indian experience. But the highlight? A tattoo in Punjabi on his leg that reads “Neelam,” meaning sapphire, a tribute to his upcoming album of the same name.
This tattoo isn’t just body art; it’s Ed’s personal stamp of affection for India and a nod to his album Sapphire, which features Indian influences, including lyrics in Hindi and Punjabi. Posting a close-up of the tattoo on Instagram, Ed captioned it, “Permanent ink so you know the love is real.” And clearly, the connection is, his comment section was flooded with fans jokingly declaring him an honorary Indian.
His India diary was packed with genuine, unfiltered moments: riding an auto-rickshaw in Telangana, sharing music and laughs with Arijit Singh on a barge, and even visiting the Baahubali movie set in Hyderabad, something he called a surreal experience, having watched the film in theatres back home. One photo showed him on Baahubali’s iconic throne, looking like a tourist on a dream trip.
Ed also met Shah Rukh Khan, and the two shared a playful clip lip-syncing to Sapphire. The bond with Bollywood didn’t stop there. His upcoming album Play, which he says was completed during his stay in Goa, reflects this joy and openness. The track “Old Phone” already gives fans a peek into the album’s sound, mixing tabla, sitar, and personal storytelling. “I just wanted to create joy and explore cultures,” Ed wrote on Instagram, revealing how deeply the trip inspired him.
