Hindi Medium 2 to be retitled?

Ever since news came out that Irrfan Khan is back home after undergoing treatment for neuroendocrine tumour in London, fans have been waiting to see him resume work. As widely reported by media lately, Khan is expected to commence his next inning by starring in the sequel of his 2017 hit Hindi Medium.

The latest update on the much-awaited project is that it might not be titled Hindi Medium 2. Yes, you heard that right! According to reports, Hindi Medium 2 is just the working title of the film and the makers have locked English Medium as the new title of the sequel.

The Hindi Medium sequel tells the story of Irrfan’s daughter who goes to the US for her further studies. Since the sequel portrays the struggle of people from different origins who go to the United States to study and try to fit in, it has been titled English Medium.

“The film will not just address the issues of Hindi medium students in the US but also those of the students from other countries who face trouble fitting into a system where English is the primary spoken language. Keeping that in mind, director Saket Chaudhary, who helmed the first instalment, has been replaced by Homi Adajania who has directed films such as like Being Cyrus (2006), Finding Fanny (2014) and Cocktail (2012),” a well-placed source revealed.

If reports are to be believed, Radhika Madan, who was most recently seen in Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2019), has been roped in to play Irrfan Khan’s daughter in the movie, while the search for Khan’s female lead is still on.

The film will be produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films.
