Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani is one of the best period films made in Bollywood. The movie starred Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. All three actors had impressed everyone with their performance in the film and also won multiple awards.

Today, as Bajirao Mastani completes five years of its release, Deepika took to Instagram to recollect her character of Mastani in the film. She posted a picture with SLB and captioned it as, “Whether in love or war, Mastani was fuelled by her passion, unafraid to write her own destiny, no matter how perilous the path. She never bowed down and always stood her ground with a fierce dignity and a love so strong that its burning embers seared through every societal constraint, to join both her and her lover's names, for all of eternity... @ranveersingh @priyankachopra @bhansaliproductions #5YearsOfMastani #5YearsOfBajiraoMastani #BajiraoMastani.”

Bajirao Mastani was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s dream project and was made after a delay of 15 years. The movie was supposed to originally star Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rani Mukerji. However, it was put on a backburner because of Salman and Aishwarya’s breakup.

Later, reportedly, Bhansali was planning to make it with Salman, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rani. But even that didn’t materialise, and finally, it was made with Ranveer, Deepika, and Priyanka.

Bajirao Mastani was Ranveer and Deepika's second film with SLB. They had earlier worked with him in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela. Well, after Bajirao Mastani, the trio collaborated for the third time for the movie Padmaavat.
