Arjun Kapoor to play the villain in Ek Villain 2?

Arjun Kapoor was last seen on the big screen in India’s Most Wanted. The film received decent reviews but failed to make a mark at the box office. The actor will next be seen on the big screen in Panipat and also has Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar ready for a release.

Panipat releases in December this year, and after that Arjun doesn’t have any film in his kitty. Well, if a report in a daily is to be believed, then Arjun Kapoor has been roped in for Ek Villain 2.

Mohit Suri’s 2014 directorial Ek Villain starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh was a blockbuster at the box office. It is said that producer Ekta Kapoor is keen to make Ek Villain a franchise and Mohit and Ekta have decided to rope in Arjun Kapoor for the sequel.

However, Arjun won’t play the hero in the film, but he will portray the character of the villain. A source stated, “Ekta Kapoor wants to turn Ek Villain into her production house’s Dhoom franchise. The question here is: Who will play the formal hero when the villain has the author-backed role?”

While Sidharth was the hero of Ek Villain, it was Riteish who had a stronger role in the film and impressed everyone with his performance. If the report turns out to be true, then it will be interesting to see Arjun playing an antagonist in a film as he hasn’t done that before.

Suri and Kapoor had collaborated for Half Girlfriend which was an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s book with the same name. The movie was semi-hit at the box office. Meanwhile, Mohit Suri is currently busy with Malang which stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, Disha Patani and Kunal Kemmu. The film is slated to release during the Valentine’s Day next year.

Talking about Arjun, the actor needs a hit at the box office as his couple previous films like Namaste England and India’s Most Wanted failed to make a mark at the box office. In Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat, Arjun plays the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles. It will hit the screens on 6th December 2019.
