Abhisting: Music is very therapeutic to me

By: Admin Super

Singer, songwriter and rapper Abhisting has made a name for himself with popular songs that have combined interesting musical influences.

The New York-based talent continued to rise with his recently released song Dance Star, which is accompanied by an interesting music video.

Eastern Eye caught up with Abhisting to talk about music, his new song and future hopes.

How do you look back on your musical journey?
I have been making music since the age of 15, and there have been a lot of ups and downs. Having people reach out and tell me I inspire them or they just vibe to my music gives me such a good feeling. But at the same time, when I put out a record and it doesn’t do as good as I hoped, I get disappointed about it.

What has been the high point for you?
Being able to perform in front of hundreds of people at venues like the Highline Ballroom in New York City has been very fulfilling for me.

Tell us about your latest song?
My latest song Dance Star came about when I was in New York City partying with my friends. We were listening to Mickey Singh and Zack Knight songs, and one of my friends suggested I make a dance song that we could get lit to.

How does this compare to your other tracks?
This has a completely different sound from anything I’ve done before. This track has more of a dance vibe to it. I believe this track is also the best record I have made to date based on the feedback.

Who is your music aimed at?
It is aimed at young adults because I feel like they would be able to relate to it the most. They will have experienced the highs and lows of life, which is something I talk about throughout my music.

Your song is called Dance Star; but what are your dance skills like?
I like to think I can break it down on the dance floor, especially after a couple of drinks. I also used to dance to fusion songs back in college at North-Eastern University, so that’s where I got my dance skills.

What can we expect next from you?
I’m going to follow up this single with another dance track called Everything About You. Since I’ve been getting a lot of good feedback, I want to drop another dance song people can vibe to.

Which of your unreleased songs are you most excited about?
I think my next track Everything About You is the song I’m most excited for. I’ve been playing that song on repeat and can’t wait to share it with the world.

What kind of music do you like listening to?
My music taste varies depending on what mood I’m in. But nowadays some of my favourite artists are Drake, Travis Scott, Nav, Gunna, and Smokepurpp.

Who would you love to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with Mickey Singh because I think he makes the best dance tracks in the urban Asian scene. He is also a versatile artist who constantly switches and innovates his sound.

What inspires you?
My love for creating new sounds and styles is what inspires me. I feel like I am blessed to have found my passion at an early age and do something that I truly love.

Finally, why do you love music?
Because it is very therapeutic to me and I can let out my thoughts when I have no one else to talk too. I love it for the creative aspects it involves, epically when dropping music videos.
