We all know that our Bollywood filmmakers love to remake South Indian movies and even international films. Nowadays, there’s also a trend of movies being inspired by real-life incidents. But, there’s also one more thing that Bollywood filmmakers like to explore. They love to make movies that are adapted from books.
So today, let’s look at the list of movies that were adapted from books…
Devdas
A love triangle that got tears in everyone’s eyes, Devdas, is based on 1917 Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel with the same name. The book was adapted into a film multiple times, but Dilip Kumar starrer Devdas (1955) and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Devdas (2002) are two of the most remembered movies.
Parineeta
Devdas was not the only film that was based on a book written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Vidya Balan’s Bollywood debut Parineeta was also an adaptation of Chattopadhyay’s novel which was titled Parineeta. Wasn’t it a beautiful film?
3 Idiots
Not many would know that Aamir Khan starrer 3 idiots was also not an original film. It was based on the book titled Five Point Someone and the book was written by none other than Chetan Bhagat. With the success of 3 Idiots, a lot of books of Bhagat were adapted into a film. Find out more in the list down…
Kai Po Che
Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh starrer Kai Po Che is clearly one of the best films made on friendship in Bollywood. But let us tell you that it was also an adaptation of a book. The book was Chetan Bhagat’s The 3 Mistakes Of My Life. Bhagat was also involved in writing the screenplay of the film.
2 States
The list of Chetan Bhagat’s books being adapted into a film doesn’t end with Kai Po Che. We have 2 States here starring Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt which was also an adaptation of Bhagat’s book with the same name. The film went on to become a super hit at the box office.
Half Girlfriend
And finally, we have Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Half Girlfriend. Once again a film adapted from Chetan Bhagat’s book with the same name. While Half Girlfriend wasn’t a big hit like 2 States, it reasonably did well at the box office.
7 Khoon Maaf
Priyanka Chopra was fantastic in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 7 Khoon Maaf. She even won a few awards for her performance. But we are sure not many would know that the film was an adaptation of the book Susanna's Seven Husbands by Ruskin Bond.
Fitoor
Aditya Roy Kapur, Katrina Kaif and Tabu starrer Fitoor was based on Charles Dickens' novel Great Expectations. We went into the theatres with a lot of expectations, but when we came out we were disappointed with this Abhishek Kapoor directorial.
The Zoya Factor
Now soon we are all set to witness one more movie on the big screen which is an adaptation of a book. We are talking about Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan starrer The Zoya Factor. The movie is based on Anuja Chauhan’s book with the same name and we can’t wait to watch it on the big screen.
The eight-member K-pop group YOUNITE performed for the first time in India at Delhi's Rang De Korea festival.
Members expressed astonishment at the welcome from Indian fans, describing the trip as feeling "unreal."
Indian cuisine, especially curries and coriander, became an instant favourite for the band.
Rapper Dey specifically named Indian artist Hanumankind as a desired collaborator.
The band's India tour continues with a performance at Mumbai’s K-Harmony Festa.
The energy at Delhi’s Nexus Select City Walk was off the charts and you could feel it buzzing in the air. K-pop group YOUNITE finally hit the stage for their first gig ever in India. And this wasn’t just any show. It was part of the Rang De Korea festival, which signals that the Hallyu wave is truly catching fire here. The crowd went wild. Lights were everywhere. The band looked around and realised that this night was something special; it was not just another pin on their tour map.

What went down for Younite at their India debut?
To put it simply: it was absolute madness, in the best way possible. Steve, the lead singer, couldn’t stop grinning even hours later. He kept saying it all felt dreamlike. He mentioned the crowd’s noise was next-level, unlike anything they had heard before. It wasn’t just about singing and dancing, either.
The guys went full tourist, checking out Humayun’s Tomb and, probably the highlight, getting thoroughly stuck into local street food. If you’ve seen their socials, you know they didn’t hold back. The consensus? The curries were a triumph, with Steve singling out the potent flavour of fresh coriander as a game-changer.
Who does Younite want to collaborate with from India?
This is where things get interesting for music fans. When the topic of potential Indian partnerships came up, rapper Dey didn't hesitate. He immediately named Hanumankind, revealing the track 'Big Dawgs' was already on their playlist. Dey mused that their styles could mesh well, creating something genuinely fresh and fun.
It’s a clear signal that the group is looking beyond a simple performance, actively seeking to build bridges with local artists and sounds. This specific interest in a YOUNITE Hanumankind collaboration has certainly set fan forums alight.
The Delhi gig was only the first chapter. The group is now headed to Mumbai for the inaugural K-Harmony Festa, ensuring their Indian introduction is a two-city affair. They’ve promised to bring the same, if not more, intense energy to that stage. Beyond the immediate tour, their comments suggest a strong desire to return. The warmth from the fans and the vibrant culture seem to have hooked them. Given their clear enjoyment of the food, the history, and the music scene, this YOUNITE India debut likely won't be their last.
