Varun Dhawan drops interesting details about Street Dancer 3D

Varun Dhawan, who is presently busy promoting his upcoming film, Kalank, is quite psyched up about his next release also. Yes, we are talking about Street Dancer 3D, which reunites the star with choreographer-turned-filmmaker Remo D’souza and Shraddha Kapoor after ABCD 2 (2015).

When Street Dancer 3D was officially announced, the makers had said that they would release the film in 3D. However, if Varun Dhawan is to be believed, the makers may experiment with 4DX technology also, to give a never seen before experience to the audience.

“I am so excited about the Street Dancer 3D because we are going to break new ground with that film. I promise everyone that it is something that you all have never seen before. It is going to be in 3D and maybe in 4DX also. We have the theatres where the seat moves so we are trying to give that experience to the audience,” said the actor.

He went on to add, “Because Remo is a really cool guy, he will not settle for anything less. What’s great about him is that he is that kid who has come from Surat and did big in Bollywood and he looks at everything differently as an artist.”

Street Dancer 3D, also starring Prabhudeva, Raghav Juyal, Punit Pathak, Dharmesh Yelande, Sonam Bajwa, Nora Fatehi, Shakti Mohan and Aparshakti Khurana, is slated to roll into cinemas on 8th November, 2019.

Yash says Ravana in Ramayana must connect with Western viewers as film eyes global audience

Highlights

  • Yash says he humanised Ravana to help global audiences relate to the character.
  • Asura designs in the first glimpse drew criticism for looking too Western-inspired.
  • Producer Namit Malhotra compares the film's tone to Lord of the Rings and Gladiator.
Yash, who plays the demon king Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, says his portrayal was shaped by one clear goal: making the character relatable beyond Indian audiences.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, where the film was presented alongside major Hollywood releases, the actor said he worked to strip away the purely mythological reading of the role.

"I have tried to internalise the whole essence of Ravana and tried to make him as human as possible at times," Yash told Reuters.

"It is important for people to relate to him, and since we have global ambitions, we need to make it familiar to a Western audience as well."
