UK-returnee, who died in isolation, was not infected with coronavirus: Bangladesh

THE UK-returnee, who died in isolation at a Sylhet hospital in Bangladesh on Sunday, was not infected with coronavirus, according to a report of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).

Samples taken from her body tested negative, Dr Debapada Ray, director of Health, Sylhet division, said.

The woman, aged around 61, died of other complications, he added.

She returned from London on March 4 and was suffering from fever, cough and breathing problems and was admitted to the hospital on March 20.

Another coronavirus patient, aged around 70, has died in Bangladesh while six more new cases have been confirmed by the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on Tuesday (24).

With this, the number of deaths from Covid-19 stands at four and infected at 39 in the country.

Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, director, IEDCR briefed the media through videoconference on Tuesday.
