Three arrested over death of mom in Leicester home

THREE people were arrested on Thursday (10) in connection with the death of Suvekshya Burathoki at her home in Highfields.

The mom-of-three, known as Fatima, was found murdered at her home in Bartholomew Street on Tuesday morning with multiple stab injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to reports, Fatima's children were at home at the time of the fatal attack.

Two men, both aged 29, and a woman, 33, were arrested at an address in Coventry and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

“As a result of our enquiries carried out to date, we have this afternoon arrested three people – one on suspicion of murder," detective Inspector Mark Sinski from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit was quoted as saying.

“While we’ve made these arrests, our investigation into Fatima’s death is still very much ongoing and I would still like to speak to anyone who is yet to come forward with information.”

Neighbours and friends described Fatimas as a "lovely, happy and polite" woman.

One neighbour told LeicestershireLive: “She was a lovely lady. She’d lived there as long as I can remember.

"She was a beautiful lady, always happy, always had a smile, very happy and polite, and I’ve not got a bad word to say about her.

“It was a big shock when we heard what had happened, particularly as we understand the children were in the house at the time.”
