SRK opts out of Saare Jahan Se Accha to headline Don 3?

After the release of Zero (2018), Shah Rukh Khan was set to commence work on the Rakesh Sharma biopic titled Saare Jahan Se Accha, and the same was confirmed by the superstar himself. However, if latest reports are to be believed, there is a major change in plans now.

Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly bowed out of Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Saare Jahan Se Accha to star in Farhan Akhtar’s much-awaited film Don 3. As the title suggests itself, Don 3 is the third instalment of the successful Don franchise which sees Khan in the role of a deadly don.

Saare Jahan Se Accha, which was originally offered to Aamir Khan, was expected to begin production in February. To be written by Anjum Rajabali, the big-ticket film was to be directed by Mahesh Mathai. But since Farhan Akhtar is also planning to start work on Don 3 around the same time, the superstar had no choice except choosing one project over the other and Shah chose Don 3.

Don 3 will be directed by actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar. To be produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment, the big-budgeted film is expected to enter cinemas in 2020.

With Shah Rukh Khan walking out of Saare Jahan Se Accha, the future of the project seems in doubt. It has already faced several delays in the past.
