Soorma to shift to a new date to avoid clash with Dutt biopic

Bollywood is in a reshuffle mode right now. Almost every second day, we hear reports about changes in the release date of one upcoming film or the other. The latest movie, which we hear, is about to shift its release date is Dijit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu's Soorma.

According to our sources, the makers of the upcoming biopic, which is based on the life of well-known hockey player Sandeep Singh, might lock another date to release the film as they do not want to clash with Rajkumar Hirani's Sanjay Dutt biopic, featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role.

The Sanjay Dutt biopic was earlier scheduled to release on 30th March 2018, during the Good Friday weekend. However, the makers decided to take a 3 months' jump and come on 29th June 2018, the same date which had been blocked by the makers of Soorma much in advance.

Rajkumar Hirani's film is, by all means, one of the biggest movies of 2018. Realizing that a clash with a big film like Dutt biopic can incur heavy losses, the makers have decided to push their film forward. They have yet not decided a new release date for the film. An announcement will be made as soon as the new date is finalized.

Soorma is being produced by Chitrangda Singh and directed by Shaad Ali.
