Shahid Kapoor, not Arjun Kapoor, to topline Arjun Reddy remake

Here is the latest development on the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster film Arjun Reddy (2017). Earlier, it was being reported that Arjun Kapoor will headline the remake, but if latest reports are to be believed, the project has gone to Shahid Kapoor. Yes, Kapoor will topline the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy.

South Indian filmmaker Sandeep Reddy, who directed the original film, will make his Bollywood debut with the remake. The film will be produced by Murad Khetani and Ashwin Warde, who have bought the remake rights.

Shahid had been in talks for the lead role even before Arjun Kapoor’s name cropped up. But insiders reveal that Shahid finally gave his nod to the project earlier this week. A source close to the development told an Indian daily, “The film is scheduled to go on the floors in July and the team is looking for an actress opposite Shahid at the moment. While the locations are yet to be finalised, the plan is to shoot in India as well as abroad.”

The Telugu movie, which hit the silver screen in August last year, was a huge box-office success upon its release with leading hero Vijay Deverakonda receiving great appreciation from fans and critics. It revolves around a surgeon grappling with anger issues after his girlfriend marries someone else.
