Sanjivani gets a three-months extension

If you are a diehard fan of Star Plus’ medical drama Sanjivani, here is an exciting piece of news for you. The popular show, which was rumoured to be bidding adieu to audiences in coming few weeks, has been given a three-month extension.

Producer Siddharth P Malhotra has confirmed that Sanjivani will stay on-air for yet another three months. However, it will move from its original 19:30 time slot to 18:30 time slot, with a new agreement in place from 25th January. “We finished our prior 6 months contract term on the 25th, and now it is extended to a new slot at 6:30,” Malhotra told an entertainment portal.

If the series succeeds in arresting audiences’ attention in the 18:30 slot, the channel can extend its run for a further six months. “3 months as per contract at 6:30, extendable to 6 months more,” added the producer. He also said that a number of twists and turns are in store to keep the popularity of the show alive in the 18:30 slot.

In the original 19:30 time slot of Sanjivani, Star Plus is introducing a new show titled Dadi Amma Maan Jaao. Buzz had it earlier that Rajshri Productions’ series was about to replace Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka but due to its popularity, it has been extended.

The promo of Dadi Amma Maan Jaao, which focuses on the relationship between grandparents and theirs two granddaughters in a middle-class joint-family set up, has already hit the small screens. It stars Sheen Dass and newcomer Aangha Bhonsle in roles of granddaughters. The character of grandmother is played by National Award-winning actress Seema Biswas while Mohan Joshi will be seen in the role of grandfather. The show marks the small screen comeback of talented actors Seema Biswas and Mohan Joshi.

These titles are travelling further than they ever have, including into the UK’s busy OTT space.

It’s about scale, quality, and the strange comfort of old stories in a digital world that changes too fast. And in a UK market dealing with subscription fatigue, anything fresh, strong, and rooted in clear storytelling gets noticed.
