Salman Khan’s next with SLB titled Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2?

Celebrated filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who last helmed the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmaavat (2018), has now teamed up with superstar Salman Khan for his next directorial venture.

The film will be a love story and is expected to begin production in the second half of 2019. There is no official information available on the project other than this. But if fresh reports are to be believed, the movie might be called Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2. Yes, you read that right!

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was the last film Salman and Bhansali did together. Though Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2 will not be a remake or a sequel to the 1999 movie, it will have all the elements of the blockbuster film.

“Sanjay, who is penning the script, has narrated the idea to Salman and he is onboard. Though the film isn’t a sequel or a remake, it may be called Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2. SLB feels that the movie has all the elements that Hum Dil... had. So, the title feels like a natural fit for part two. However, it will have a different story and new characters. An A-list heroine will be cast opposite Salman, but the makers haven’t approached anyone as yet,” a source close to the development revealed.

The source went on to add, “Salman starts Dabangg 3 in the last week of March. Once he finishes the third installment of the cop franchise, he will begin work on this project. The movie is being readied for a 2020 release.”

Meanwhile, Salman Khan is looking forward to the release of his next film Bharat, which is set to enter cinemas on Eid 2019.

Yash says Ravana in Ramayana must connect with Western viewers as film eyes global audience

Highlights

  • Yash says he humanised Ravana to help global audiences relate to the character.
  • Asura designs in the first glimpse drew criticism for looking too Western-inspired.
  • Producer Namit Malhotra compares the film's tone to Lord of the Rings and Gladiator.
Yash, who plays the demon king Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, says his portrayal was shaped by one clear goal: making the character relatable beyond Indian audiences.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, where the film was presented alongside major Hollywood releases, the actor said he worked to strip away the purely mythological reading of the role.

"I have tried to internalise the whole essence of Ravana and tried to make him as human as possible at times," Yash told Reuters.

"It is important for people to relate to him, and since we have global ambitions, we need to make it familiar to a Western audience as well."
