Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani 2 gets a U/A certificate

In 2014, Rani Mukerji starred in a movie titled Mardaani. She played the role of a cop named Shivani Shivaji Roy in the film. Mardaani showcased the issue of child trafficking that happens in India. Now, after five years of Mardaani, the makers are coming with the sequel to the film titled Mardaani 2.

Well, Mardaani had received an A certificate from CBFC and the makers were not happy about it. However, Mardaani 2 has received a U/A certificate.

Talking about Mardaani 2 getting a U/A certificate, Rani said, “I’m thrilled that Mardaani 2 has been given a U/A certificate from the censor board. This means the important social message of our film will reach a much, much wider set of audience and we will make that much more people aware of the growing social menace of violent juvenile crimes happening in our country.”

“Our film has some very important things to say and we want the entire country to see our film to realise the threat that our families, especially our daughters face today from nameless, faceless underage criminals who are around them, sitting next to them and following them as preys. The U/A certification will help our cause in a big way,” the actress added.

While talking about the movie, Rani had earlier stated, “Mardaani is not a regular franchise. I think it’s a franchise that talks about women empowerment. Shivani Shivaji Roy embodies the spirit of women empowerment in its true spirit because women when they watch a film like that, they get inspired, they feel empowered. So, it’s a different kind of film, a different kind of subject that we are dealing with. More than being pressurized about how the sequel would be, I think the most important reason was that are we raising an important issue with Mardaani 2, are we able to talk about the serious crime our city or country is facing, is there an important message that we are giving. The concept was most important.”

Directed by Gopi Puthran and produced by Aditya Chopra, Mardaani 2 will be hitting the screens on 13th December 2019.

From Hogwarts to headlines, the real cost of childhood fame for Harry Potter’s new stars

As HBO prepares to bring Harry Potter back to screens with a new television adaptation, excitement is high around the casting of Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout as the iconic trio of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. But amid the buzz, a quiet voice of caution has emerged. Chris Watson, father of original Hermione actress Emma Watson, is urging parents and the industry to tread carefully when it comes to child stardom.

Chris Watson is not speaking as a critic or industry insider but as someone who watched his daughter grow up inside a global franchise. Emma was nine when she landed the role of Hermione Granger, and what followed was a decade of public attention that reshaped her life. Her father remembers the shift vividly. “Her homework would go back to school on motorbikes,” he once said, pointing to the surreal logistics fame forced on them.
